About the app
BreakTime: Word Play is a small, quiet word-game app for short breaks. It has three games — Open Crossword, Word Search and Spell Hive — with 307 puzzles and a daily pack of three short rounds.
It works completely offline. There are no ads, no accounts, and no internet connection is needed to play.

Accessibility
Settings are in the app under Accessibility (Make it easier). Each one works on its own and they all start switched off:
- Larger buttons — bigger buttons and keys
- Hide the timer — play at your own pace
- No penalties — wrong guesses never reduce your score
- Easier reading — more line spacing, fewer capitals
- Reduce motion — turns off animated transitions
- Read aloud — speaks clues, letters and found words
Word Search can be played by tapping the first and last letter of a word, so dragging is never required. The app supports VoiceOver and the iOS text size settings.
Privacy
The app collects nothing.
- No account, sign-in, name, email address or phone number
- No ads and no advertising trackers
- No analytics and no tracking across other apps or websites
- No internet connection is used for gameplay
- No microphone access and no audio recording
Your progress, scores and settings are stored on your own device and stay there. Deleting the app removes them.
Read aloud uses the speech synthesiser built into iOS. Speech is generated on your device; no text or audio is sent anywhere. It is switched off unless you turn it on.
Common questions
A word I know was not accepted in Spell Hive.
Every word must be at least four letters and must use the centre letter.
Beyond the twelve target words, thousands of extra words are accepted as
bonus words. If a common word is still rejected, please email us — we would
like to add it.
Can I turn the timer off?
Yes. Settings → Accessibility (Make it easier) → Hide the timer.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Every puzzle is included in the app.
How do I start a puzzle again?
Open the settings icon on any game screen and choose to reset the current
puzzle.
